Thank God it's Monday.
Yes, I said it! I LOVE Mondays, and here's why: they're the fresh start I need every seven days. Mondays get a really bad rap (Ugh... work! School! Life! No thank you!) but they've been my favorite day for as long as I can remember.
Maybe it's because my life is in a constant state of disarray -- I have places to be, people to see and things to accomplish... oftentimes all at once -- and Mondays give me a clean slate to organize my thoughts and plan my schedule. Nothing ever really changes from Sunday to Monday (I'm always a hot mess by midweek no matter how hard I try), but it always feels like it has the potential to be different. Who knows, maybe this week will bring me something I've never imagined in my entire life! Not to mention, a new week brings seven new opportunities to put together outfits, play with makeup and (hopefully) inspire friends and followers to do the same.
This outfit is a little more work-to-play than my urban work look. The bold graphic on my dress and my over-the-knee boots demand attention, making this pairing a bit more appropriate for a job that requires movement from the office to meetings and happy hours on the town. Not only did I receive multiple compliments (a girl even rolled down her window to tell me she loved this look!) while I was shooting this with Contista Productions, but one guy even asked if he could take a picture with me and proceeded to invite me to the launch of his band's EP at Google Fiber.
If you want to stand out at work and happy hour, let this look be your inspiration.
This dress is no longer available at Urban Outfitters, but any printed or graphic sleeveless frock can be paired with a completely lace top for a little dimension and texture. My lace top was from Zara's winter collection, but their Cropped T-Shirt With Lace in black is their spring version. These Gianni Bini Ventah Suede Over The Knee Boots in black were a staple in my winter wardrobe, but I'll be wearing them throughout February as well. My awesome Coach Dinky Crossbody in Denim was actually a Christmas gift from my dad -- he bought my mom, sister and me matching bags in different colors! Sometimes I worry that he's more stylish than me.
Here's to embracing Monday instead of cursing it... and having fun getting dressed each morning this week!
